The impetuous younger son of Rabbi Lamech and Joel's brother. A zealous rebel who organizes prisoner releases and seeks immediate violent action against the Romans. He is betrothed to Tamar and ultimately dies after attacking the Roman centurion Longinus.
Lamech is Zadok's father and favors him for the arranged marriage with Tamar.
Joel is the elder brother who must constantly shield Zadok from his reckless zealot actions.
Zadok attempts to assassinate Longinus but is killed during the confrontation.
