Central protagonist and promoter who orchestrates a scheme to get himself and his friends into Hollywood. He recruits aspiring actress Wanda, newspaper agent Hal, and forger Limey, arranging for Limey to pose as British aristocrat Lord Brocklehurst to secure studio attention. Smoothie manages their contracts, negotiates with the studio CEO, and acts as a loyal manager and romantic confidant.
