A South Seas trader who saves Tony Heritage but is betrayed when Tony steals his money. Rod travels to the South Seas with Joie Malet, whom he loves. He helps establish a new trading post, discovers Tony's destructive behavior with the natives, and learns Tony is Joie's husband. He pursues Tony after he escapes on Rod's boat.
