Captain in the Austrian Ministry of War tasked with hunting Russian spy K-14. Falls in love with nurse Carla Vanirska and initially refuses to believe she is a spy. Sets a trap using Private Muller, gets shot by K-14's associate, urges her to escape, and finally catches her at a train station after the war.
