Portrayed in black-and-white flashbacks, he is the young actor who played Apu. After his brother left, he abandoned football to care for his ill father. Later, he marries Ashima, but tragedy strikes when their premature baby dies from jaundice, leading to Ashima's depression and death. He becomes heartbroken and isolated.
