Janoth's assistant who is initially told about the murder and considers surrendering. He advises Janoth to frame the unknown man instead and assists in covering up the crime. When George Stroud presents evidence implicating him, Hagen panics and betrays Janoth to save himself, revealing the murder and coverup. His betrayal results in him being shot by Janoth.
