A chemist who vows revenge after his daughter Anya's suicide is linked to the Petroff family. He develops a poison gas, joins the Bolsheviks post-revolution to kill a family general, pursues the Petroffs to New Jersey, kills Nicholas Petroff, attempts to force Nicholas to kill Kitty Conover, and ultimately dies from his own poison gas.
