A wealthy Chola merchant whose marriage to Kannagi is disrupted when he falls for Madhavi and squanders his fortune. After ending his affair with Madhavi, he reunites with Kannagi. Stripped of wealth, he travels to the Pandya kingdom to sell Kannagi's anklet, only to be falsely accused of theft by a corrupt goldsmith. Despite his innocence, he is executed by the Pandya king without a proper trial.
