Actually the real son of Major White, going by the alias Boyd. He arrives in town, gets into fights, and is appointed sheriff by Doc Lester. He later exposes his true identity, refuses Lester's orders to coerce his friend, kills Lester's men in defense of the land officer's widow, and departs with Jane White.
