A gynaecologist in her forties who discovers her husband Bernard's infidelity. She hires a prostitute named Nathalie to seduce him and report back on their meetings. Catherine develops a complex, ambiguous relationship with Nathalie, eventually helping her when she becomes homeless and introducing her to her mother. After Nathalie fabricates a relationship with Bernard, Catherine confronts her husband and leads him to a bistro where Nathalie flees. Ultimately, Catherine chooses to forgive and forget.
