Keshav's father and a superstitious priest who initially insists his son marry a black buffalo for good fortune and opposes having a toilet. He attempts to demolish the constructed toilet but eventually relents after his wife injures herself trying to walk to the fields. He realizes the necessity of a toilet, helps his mother use it, and apologizes to Jaya.
