A 17-year-old country boy who joins the Carlingue (French Gestapo auxiliaries) after being rejected by the Resistance. He abuses his new authority but falls in love with a Jewish girl, becoming protective of her and her family. He kills a German soldier to help them escape to Spain, but is eventually arrested by the Resistance and executed.
