The ambitious young protagonist and a self-taught lawyer. Initially the prime suspect in the murder of the bailiff Dreverhaven, he is later cleared when police discover a time-of-death discrepancy that proves Dreverhaven committed suicide. He ultimately inherits the bailiff's entire estate via a will signed 'Vader'.
