A riding instructor at the boarding school and the grandson of Lord Wickham. He develops a romantic relationship with teacher Miss Rose and volunteers for the Boer War. After his departure, his love letter to Rose is confiscated by Miss Minchin, causing her dismissal. He later reappears as a wounded patient in the hospital where Sara reunites with him.
