Recently retired man who drives to Hokkaido and picks up Akemi. Initially distant and prone to conflict, he faces a car accident and police checkpoint but chooses to support Yusaku's journey. Eventually reconciles with Akemi after witnessing Yusaku's reunion.
They form a traveling alliance after an initial encounter, sharing a vehicle and journey.
