The Narracott family's son who bonds deeply with Joey, training him to respond to an owl call. After his family is forced to sell the horse to the army, Albert enlists in WWI. He is temporarily blinded by a gas bomb at the Somme but is later reunited with Joey after hearing his signature call. He ultimately brings the horse back to their farm.
