Protagonist and New Orleans police detective. Haunted by his young son's death and a failed marriage, he is partnered with the late Det. Dave Besson and later Will Ganz. Assigned to investigate ritualistic burnings, he uncovers a conspiracy involving Spartan Security. After his commander is killed, he takes independent action, neutralizes threats, rescues his partner, and spares the mastermind before visiting his son's grave.
