The brilliant but arrogant Roman general who earns the name Coriolanus after capturing Corioles. Despising the plebeians, he clashes with the Senate tribunes during his consulship campaign and is banished. He allies with his former enemy Aufidius to attack Rome, but is persuaded by his mother and wife to spare the city. Ultimately betrayed by Aufidius, he is killed by his Volscian allies.
