A brash Canadian bush pilot and former WWII bomber pilot who crash-lands in the Arctic tundra. Initially viewing his Inuit companion as a burden, he learns survival skills from her, overcomes his arrogance, and forms a deep bond of respect. After she sacrifices herself to save him, he honors her traditions by building a stone cairn and successfully reaches an Inuit village.
