After a conflict with police, he becomes an outlaw, forms the Kelly Gang with his brother Dan, Steve Hart, and Joe Byrne. He leads the gang in armed confrontations, builds steel armor for the Glenrowan siege, and is ultimately captured, convicted of murder, and hanged after his mother urges him to die like a Kelly.
