Melvin's first wife, initially frustrated by his futile pursuit of the American dream. She leaves him to dance in a strip club, returns, appears on a game show to win prizes, but ultimately sues for divorce when Melvin's impulsive purchases of a Cadillac and a boat threaten their family's finances.
