The protagonist, miraculously born fully-grown in the Amazon jungle with a playful child's heart. After his mother's death, he undergoes a racial transformation but later fathers a black boy with Ci. Following the tragic deaths of Ci and his son, he embarks on a quest for a magical stone, serving as an allegorical representation of Brazilian society.
Ci serves as the maternal figure to the child she bears with Grande Otelo.
