The protagonist and de facto leader of the seven Texan Confederate soldiers. He endures the perilous march to Shiloh, survives the Battle of Shiloh, and becomes the sole survivor of his unit. Ultimately spared from execution, he is left with the choice to return home as advised by his fallen comrades.
