Richie's stern but loving father who struggles to express his emotions. He attempts to support his son by helping him find employment and connect with a girl, but refuses family counseling. In a desperate attempt to stop Richie's addiction, he calls the police and later confronts him in the basement, ultimately shooting him to save his life. A grand jury later clears him of charges.
