Initially reluctant due to his disdain for the Toyotomi regime, he joins Mitsunari's cause after hearing his vision for a fairer governance under Hideyori. At Sekigahara, he leads a brave vanguard assault but is wounded, forcing him to retreat to a field hospital run by his wife.
