Langston's estranged grandfather and a local church reverend. Initially unfamiliar with his teenage grandson, he reluctantly takes him in after Langston arrives in New York City. He pressures Langston to join the church production, later reveals he secretly paid Langston's father to leave the family, causing decades of estrangement, and ultimately facilitates a family reconciliation.
