A married detective investigating the murder of Daniel Sadowsky. He becomes obsessed with implicating author Kozlov, crosses ethical boundaries by seducing Kasia, and coerces a false confession. Upon discovering Kozlov's alibi, he confronts Kasia but is fatally poisoned by her.
