15-year-old protagonist who copes with his parents' marital and financial troubles by writing music. After transferring to a new public school and meeting Raphina, he forms the band Sing Street to create a music video for her. Nicknamed Cosmo by Raphina, he writes original songs, faces school bullying, and ultimately escapes to London with Raphina to pursue a new life.
