An art dealer incarcerated for tax evasion who becomes an early patron of Moses Rosenthaler's work. After purchasing Rosenthaler's painting of Simone, he successfully persuades his family of art exhibitors to showcase it, launching the artist's career. Years later, he leads a group of frustrated collectors into the prison to demand more art. Following a physical altercation that turns into appreciation, he orchestrates the controversial airlifting of Rosenthaler's massive prison frescoes to a private museum in Kansas.
