An unemployed Marine veteran who joins a border patrol militia. He initially pursues Carmen but kills his partner Mike to protect her. They flee to Los Angeles, where he discovers he understands Spanish, fights underground boxing for money, and gets shot during a police raid. His journey ends with him walking away after a fantasy dance with Carmen.
