A struggling journalist who survives a bear attack and is rescued by Tadaka. He accidentally infiltrates a village of betaals, gets turned into one after a car accident, and learns to control his new powers. He eventually defeats the captive betaal Yakshasan, becomes the sect's leader, and navigates his supernatural life.
