A young orphan who endures hardship in a workhouse, is apprenticed to an undertaker, and escapes to London where he is drawn into a criminal gang. Despite being wrongfully accused of theft and kidnapped, his innocence and kindness eventually lead him to be reunited with his true family and grandfather, Mr. Brownlow.
