Biography

Levan Akin is a Swedish filmmaker of Georgian descent. He made his feature directorial debut with Certain People (2012, Tribeca FF). He has since directed And Then We Danced (2019), which premiered at Cannes Directors' Fortnight and was Sweden's official entry for the Academy Awards, and Crossing (2024), which opened the Berlinale Panorama section. Both films won multiple awards including Best Film at the Swedish Guldbagge Awards. Akin became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2020. His other work includes the The Circle (Berlinale, 2015) and episodes of AMC's Interview with the Vampire (2022–2024).
