Los 41 refers to the group of men whose private gathering became the center of the 1901 Mexico City scandal. An illegal police raid disrupted the event, and nineteen attendees were dressed in women’s clothing. Because many participants belonged to the upper classes, the incident drew intense press attention and made homosexuality publicly discussed in Mexico.
