Steve is Jeff's brother and a teenage hot-rod racer. After a race meet, he is goaded into a street race while Jeff rides as his passenger and begs him not to race. Steve ignores Jeff's pleas and dies in the resulting crash, leaving Jeff heartbroken and estranged from the other racers, including Lisa.
