The Kid is a foul-mouthed, chain-smoking young man traveling with Donnelly. He cruelly mocks the couple's dead child, indirectly causes the Woman to jump from the train, and later reveals himself as the person responsible for murdering his mother. He opens fire on armed police, is mortally wounded, and dies regretting that he hit none of them.
