The young son of cattle herder Rafael Rosillo, Leonardo rescues and lovingly raises the orphaned calf Gitano, whom he names. When Gitano is sold after Don Alejandro's estate is auctioned, Leonardo travels to Mexico City to seek his release and appeals to the president for help. At the arena, he watches Gitano's fight and ultimately enters the ring, where Gitano recognizes him.
