Biography

Alejandro Monteverde, whose full name is José Alejandro Gómez Monteverde, was born on July 13, 1977, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He is a filmmaker known for directing movies such as Bella, Little Boy, and Sound of Freedom. Monteverde gained recognition with his debut film, Bella, which won the People's Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006. He later directed Little Boy, a World War II drama, and Sound of Freedom, a film about child trafficking that became one of the most successful independent films of 2023. His latest work, Cabrini, released in 2024, tells the story of Frances Xavier Cabrini. In 2007, Monteverde received the Outstanding American by Choice Award, which honors naturalized U.S. citizens for their contributions. He is married to actress Ali Landry, and they have three children. Tragically, in 2015, his father and brother were kidnapped and murdered in Mexico.
