He distinguished himself in the theater in plays by Feydeau, Jean Anouilh, Jean Giraudoux, and even Bertolt Brecht. He was initially buried in the Parisian cemetery of Thiais (Val-de-Marne), before his remains were transferred to Biarritz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
