Linda is Tommie's mother. She and Jesse question Tommie after she has been spending time away from home, but Tommie lies about visiting a friend. Linda therefore represents the family and adult supervision that Tommie avoids while traveling with David.
Tara is a talented but isolated teenager who is kidnapped and taken to a mansion. In the basement, she rescues a mute boy and forms a bond with him, gradually learning the truth about the sacrifices used to restore him. Although frightened by his monstrous transformation, she embraces him and is killed. Her compassion and forgiveness remain central to the story, and she later awakens alive with her memory temporarily suppressed before accompanying him through the mansion grounds.
