Anita is Manuel's sister. After Manuel appears to take his own life, his friend Armando delivers Manuel's farewell letter to her. Anita and Armando fall in love, but their relationship is strained when Armando discovers that Manuel is alive and that Anita is supposed to deceive him for money. Armando eventually forgives her, and they reunite.
