Kryten is a member of the Red Dwarf crew and was the only person who witnessed Kochanski's supposed death. He had told Lister that she died, but later admits that the children on Earth were right: she may simply have left because she was tired of Lister, and Kryten claimed she was dead to spare his feelings.
