Dalibor is an inexperienced partisan fighter who is ordered by Major Dragan to act as an aircraft gunner because no trained shooter is available. Though frightened, he helps prepare improvised bombs and ammunition and joins the mission. Later, with Žare wounded and unable to control the aircraft, Dalibor learns the controls and lands the plane under his companion's direction.
