Mr. Dawson is Peggy and Mary's father and the boss of Jerry, who works as foreman on his Circle-Bar ranch. Though Bull Condon holds a note on the ranch and proposes that Peggy's affection could settle it, Dawson refuses the suggestion and orders Condon away, promising to pay. He later joins the others in outwitting Condon.

Frank flees, leaving his hat and an addressed envelope behind; The Stranger uses these as supposed evidence in the robbery scheme, but ultimately clears Frank by implicating Sellers.
