Lance is a New Yorker who is injured in a car crash outside Jean Lowell's church and becomes smitten with her. He and his partner Perry Borden are thieves. Though he intends to quit so he and Jean can start a new life, his stolen gift leads Jean to discover the truth, and Lance is later killed.
