A young man living in a community, Marco is devastated by his roommate's suicide and feels trapped by hopelessness and inadequacy. He asks his brother Davide to accompany him to the Netherlands to pursue assisted suicide, then travels alone to Amsterdam. After Davide persuades him the plan is not possible, Marco wanders away during the return journey and enters the sea, where Davide follows him.
Marco becomes a celebrated source of crude comic routines among the Universale’s audience. One performance offends a patron, who leaves and never returns, showing how his humor can provoke a strong reaction within the cinema’s boisterous community.
