Biography

Stuart Thorp is a stunt coordinator and performer. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, Thorp's notable film credits include serving as the stunt coordinator for James Cameron's "Avatar" (2009) and its sequel "Avatar: The Way of Water" (2022), as well as for "Zero Dark Thirty" (2012), "Evil Dead Rise" (2023), and "Skyscraper" (2018). He has also worked as an assistant stunt coordinator on films like "Jungle Cruise" (2019) and "The Meg" (2018). In television, Thorp has made significant contributions as the stunt coordinator for series such as "Ash vs Evil Dead" (2015–2018) and "Spartacus" (2010–2013), where he also served as a second-unit director.  His early career includes stunt work on iconic films such as the "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, the "The Chronicles of Narnia" series, and "King Kong" (2005). Beyond his on-screen work, Thorp holds a leadership position as the President of the Stunt Guild of New Zealand.
