The Hillside Stand
A hastily assembled group of thirteen soldiers is assigned to destroy a strategic bridge on the Bataan Peninsula. They dig defensive positions on a hillside and successfully demolish the structure, but their commander falls to a sniper, shifting leadership to Sergeant Dane.

Sabotage and Suspicion
The outnumbered defenders doggedly hold their ground while suffering casualties from disease and combat. Dane and Todd execute a daring grenade mission to destroy a partially rebuilt bridge, while Dane begins to suspect Todd's true identity.

The Pilot's Sacrifice
Lieutenant Bentley and mechanic Katigbak race to repair an aircraft under heavy pressure. Katigbak is killed, and Bentley is mortally wounded, but he successfully loads explosives and crashes the plane into the bridge foundation.

The Final Last Stand
The remaining defenders repel a massive frontal assault through brutal hand-to-hand combat. As casualties mount, Todd reveals his true identity before dying, and Dane prepares his own grave for the final Japanese charge.

During Japan's invasion of the Philippines in 1942, Capt. Henry Lassiter, Sgt. Bill Dane and a diverse group of American soldiers are ordered to destroy and hold a strategic bridge in order to delay the Japanese forces and allow Gen. MacArthur time to secure Bataan. When the Japanese soldiers begin to rebuild the bridge and advance, the group struggles with not only hunger, sickness and gunfire, but also the knowledge that there is likely no relief on the way.
