How does Red Water end?

In the final act ("Final Hunt & Resolution"): The shark kills Ice while he attempts to retrieve the money alone. John lures the beast under the rig, where a dropped drill finally kills it. John retrieves a tooth as proof but chooses to toss it into the river, letting the spirit rest in peace.
