Plot Progression

1. Fortified Isolation — Mike and Kim survive inside a reinforced cabin after the apocalypse. Mike scavenges while Kim remains behind, and the coded knock establishes their fragile security ritual.
2. The Tainted Past — Dwindling supplies force the couple to confront their previous life with Todd and Erika. The flashbacks reveal that tainted meat led to infection and two forced killings.
3. Voices In The Dark — Kim receives increasingly abusive radio calls while Mike searches unsuccessfully for supplies. Mike proposes a coastal escape, but again leaves Kim alone to prepare for the journey.
